Exceptional
Historic building amidst beautiful gardens and very knowledgeable and accommodating staff
Liked: Beautiful grounds and very hospitable staff.
Disliked: Rooms were small. No towels available by outdoor pool.
Outstanding staff and beautiful hotel
Liked: Its history, the old part of the hotel. Unfortunately we did not have time to visit the grounds which looked promising.
Disliked: Rooms could have been refreshed as far as paint.
Lovely staff, palace tired and in need of upgrade
Liked: The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The room was clean, bed comfortable. Quiet location.
Disliked: I felt the property was very tired. It needs some work. The gardens were all over grown and lots of weeds. The pool had green on the steps. The place would be amazing with a bit of an upgrade. Expensive for what you got. I was in the spa room.
Comfortable hotel full of rich history
Liked: We enjoyed the atmosphere of the old building for dinner (with a shelf full of old books within reach) and the good breakfast. We stayed in the new building, in a large and comfortable room. We also enjoyed the decent-sized pool. The tour of the garden in the morning was very informative.

Liked: Wonderful hotel in a beautiful location. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Service in all areas was amazing. We had a remedial massage with Suzete and Melina which was the best I have had in 45 years. Dinner was amazing and so was the service.
Disliked: That we had to leave😕
Liked: Everything!!! Great people, room, facilities... best stay in our trip to Portugual. A must visit if you want to be treated with great service and a special hotel.
