  Great base to explore lovely Coimbra. Super-helpful host

  Liked: Location couldn't be more central. The flat is big and has a brilliant wrap around terrace. There is a bath - which was a treat after lots of shower-only places. Everything very comfortable. Recommended.

  Disliked: Only one hitch - a bit of confusion on arrival as there was no where we could stop the car to find the flat, or get the keys (It was a festive weekend so I think we were just unlucky, it was super busy) but our host came out onto the street to find us and everything fine after that, and he couldn't have been more helpful

  Very spacious and comfortable

  Liked: Host: Incredibly welcoming and patient. Met me in person and shared great local dining recommendations. Apartment: Very spacious and comfortable. Spotlessly clean and fully equipped with AC and a washing machine. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. The views of the old town seen from the terrace and windows are truly breathtaking. Location: Excellent. Close to major attractions.

  Disliked: There is only one AC unit in the living room; none in the bedroom. However, it cools down at night, so it wasn't a big deal.

  Liked: Nice big apartment. The directions to get in not very clear. The sofa bed was a bit uncomfortable maybe suits younger children. We loved Coimbra.

  Liked: Car park in the building

  Disliked: Rude staff. Check in was at 3. They did not arrive until 3:15 we were waiting outside the apartment under 40 degree heat. We were then told that the apartment was not ready, that they were still cleaning it and that we would have to wait. We asked to go to the apartment anyway as we had our 2 year old boy and we had been driving for 4 hours. We got to the apartment and there was a lady in the living room making the sofa bed, I told her not to worry and not to do it that our son would sleep with us and she rolled her eyes at me. Then I went to the bedroom and there was a 20 something year old girl with a 5 month old strapped on her back making the bed. I was shocked! I told her not to worry, that I would make the bed and then I asked her what the baby’s name was etc as my son was curious. The other lady told me off for talking to the girl and told me not to distract her. Very rude and uncomfortable. I have raised the issue with booking.

  Good location, nice views, clean unit - Parking process is exasperating!

  Liked: The location was very convenient. The unit was decent size and clean. There was a large deck with nice views, which we didn't use because the weather was not conducive to it.

  Disliked: The primary issue with the property was communication. We don't speak Portuguese and the host didn't speak English. Bottom line is that if you don't speak the language AND you are planning to park a car, plan on an exasperating experience. Since we didn't have detailed arrival instructions and we had to meet our host to get the unit keys and parking pass, we had a hugely frustrating experience. Connecting with and understanding the host was challenging enough. There was literally no where to park a car to wait for the host to arrive. Check out instructions were also not clear which caused a major problem upon our departure. We were almost forced to pay a ransom to get the car out of the garage. Even if we did understand the process we would have faced the same issue trying to find a place to park the car while returning the unit keys and parking pass to the unit. None of this information was in writing (in any language). On a less significant note, we had an issue with the Nespresso coffee machine. There were explicit instructions about what pods to use/purchase (only 2 were provided). The instructions were WRONG! Coffee is an important part of a welcoming unit!
