Fabulous
A rather decaying town mansion with only two guest rooms available - spacious, fun to stay in
Liked: Lovely old large house set in its own formal garden in the centre of town.
Disliked: The owners will need to update the bathroom soon as it was a bit old and musty with small flies. For 4 of my 5 nights I was the only guest; I needed to keep the windows closed at night because of loud dog and bird (peacock/cockerel?) noises.
Liked: We arrived as part of a bike touring trip and was made to feel welcome and bikes were stored safely The staff were friendly as communication was fine. Building is beautiful and breakfast was good. 10 minute walk into the town was more than ok for us Thank you
Disliked: Breakfast wasn't vegan friendly but we didn't request this - but maybe the hotel could offer soya milk?
Liked: Location is superb with parking and staying in an historical mansion.
Disliked: Host would be wise to clean away some spiders, especially in some corners and behind the beds.
Liked: The place has a very nice charm and the location is amazing..you get best of both worlds unique traditional stay close to everything
Disliked: Only complaint is that the rooster woke us up at 3am and wouldn't stop so we didn't get much sleep.
Liked: A calming oasis very close to Guimaraes centre, only a 10 min walk to the historic area. Free parking and a short walk to railway station for train to Porto but dogs need a muzzle. Braga is only 20 minute on express bus but don’t allow dogs, take the slower one but needs driver approval. Must do- cable car to top of Penha mountain, only €10 return but you can drive and parking is free. There’s lots of cheap restaurants and great views, hotel restaurant was closed but it’s usually open. Lovely garden with peacock and wildfowl, no extra charge for the dog.
Disliked: An extra bin in room with option for recycling but there’s facilities nearby. No TV in room but there’s on in the lounge although shared with the other room (just 2 rooms in the property). Everything else was very good.
We would highly recomend this Beautiful traditional Portuguese villa
Liked: Beautiful Portuguese villa in the centre of town. Easy walking access to all sites. Safe parking and great breakfast. Would highly recommend along with the authentic Portuguese restaurant called ‘Taberna Trovador’ Best meal we have had in Portugal so far and very reasonably priced.
Disliked: All good.
