Good
When the flight was cancelled, this hotel became a good refuge!
Liked: Our flight was cancelled, so we stayed at Golda Sol for two nights to catch the next flight. The hosts were very welcoming and did their best to provide us with good service. The hotel has a swimming pool and a garden. Also, there is a large shopping centre about 20 minutes walk away.
Disliked: The hotel is quite old and it needs renovation. There was a rather musty smell in the room, so we kept windows open all night. The room had air conditioning and a TV. The shower was very narrow and it had a broken tap, so we need to use it carefully. Breakfast was quite edible and included in the price (croissants, ham, cheese, coffee machine, flakes, etc.). The corridors reminded a Catholic pilgrimage home - there were many images and statues of Jesus, the Virgin Mary, Padre Pio and Saint Anthony. I felt a little awkward playing pool on the ground floor next Padre Pio altar, but we enjoyed reading on sunbeds next to the swimming pool in the garden.
Great location and price
Liked: It was immaculate and the hosts so helpful As we were severely delayed. However you do need to be aware that this is a traditional Portuguese hotel and people might find it dated but you have everything you need and everything is spotless
Overall fair
Liked: The location was close to the stadium.
Disliked: There was a strong somewhat off-putting scent in the lobby.
Terrible
Liked: A very downbeat hotel. Poor facilities. Broken toilet, shower was tiny, bathroom basin was way too low. Overall, an extremely poor experience. The hotel pictures are dressed up dramatically.
Disliked: I paid €572 for 2 nights. The biggest rip off of my life. They keep the entrance door locked. No one can get in. Instead, we are left waiting outside in the heat until someone eventually lets us in.
Lovely family run hotel
Liked: A lovely little.hotel. it was basic but clean. The beds were comfortable. Plenty of towels. Staff didnt.speak much english but were very friendly and always gave us a smile. The pool area was lovely. The aircon was ideal as it was very warm at our time staying.There was a breakfast included with pastries, cereal, juice tea and coffee but we didnt realise this was included until the morning we were leaving.
Disliked: There was nowhere to keep our drinks cool. Hotel is a bit out of the way from things but a 15 min walk to.nearest supermarket wasnt too bad.
Disliked: The room was very basic and had not seen an update in years. There was a musky smell that penetrated everything.
