Very good
Liked: We were surprised of such comfortable house with nice see view from our terrace. Firstly we were a bit worried of nearby airport but we adapted quickly and it was not disturbing. Spacious rooms, well equipped kitchen, friendly and fast response to few questions we had to owner. Thats all for very affordable price.
Liked: The house was big and very comfortable for a family of 4. Very central and only 20 minute drive from funchal. Lots of towels for showering. Kitchen very well equipped. Owners were very nice and attentive.
Disliked: Unfortunately the house had lots of Baratas ( cockroaches ) at night time. So much so we had to buy our own products to put down for them, if not we could not enjoy sitting outside at night. Also we could not open any windows or doors while we were there as lizards would come in and Baratas at night.
Comfortable house
Liked: Very spacious house with a beautiful view. Fairly priced. Well equipped, has everything you need. The city of Santa Cruz is very cute and has restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Host is friendly and can be reached easily through messages (we never met her in person). Host was flexible with the check in, and we were able to arrive early.
Disliked: We booked the house, which according to booking has four bedrooms. However when we arrived only two were available. We called the host and she explained that since we booked as a couple, we didn't get access to the other bedrooms. While a reasonable policy, this is not communicated transparently. The house is very close to the airport and you hear the planes. Personally it did not bother us, neither during sleep, but it's something to be aware of. We experienced a big problem with cockroaches in the house, mostly on the terrace, but also in the kitchen and bedroom. We must have killed more than 50 cockroaches during our two weeks there. The host was helpful in trying to solve the problem and offered us pesticides/sprays to kill them. However the problem didnt leave and eventually lead to us not using the terrace anymore. If you have a (big) issue with cockroaches, be aware when booking this property.
Liked: Lot of space, nice view, near airport, ready to eat papayas in the garden, peace, friendly neighbours.
Disliked: Dirty, coachroaches.
