Exceptional
I had a warm welcome from the staff and had a very comfortable stay here. Wonderful bed, wonderful shower, and amazing l
Liked: Great location, very clean room, comfortable bed, amazing breakfast in the staff was fantastic
Disliked: Nothing to complain about
Liked: Beautiful traditional house, with traditional furniture but beautiful modern bathrooms. Staff were very helpful & breakfast was cooked for me.
Too Expensive for a Very Uncomfortable Bed
Liked: This is a beautiful, authentic, grand old Portugese house located in the centre of the town. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast is excellent.
Disliked: It is difficult to find using sat. nav.. There is no parking close to the hotel. There is no lift, so luggage has to be carried up and down the stairs. Worst of all, though, was the bed. The mattress was beyond firm, "hard" would be a better description. My wife and I did not sleep well here. Also, in terms of value for money, it was very expensive compared to our other stays in the area, so we expected better.
Very nice!
Liked: Nice well kept historic hotel Alma & her husband were so accommodating Nice breakfast in a sweet room off the beautiful garden
Liked: This property was beautiful and felt upscale. The breakfast felt very fancy and was the perfect end to our trip. Great location, close to lots of restaurants and 10 min from bus station.
Charming, elegant, luxurious, peaceful, relaxed - a real taste of northern Portugal
Liked: Breakfast was very good - bread, cheese, meats, fruit and savouries, with lots of coffee, served beautifully in a garden terrace room. The hotel has been converted from a 19th century mansion and is absolutely stunning, with huge rooms and great views. My room with balcony was palatial! Ensuite bathrooms are modern, with everything you could want. The hotel is in a pretty side street within two minutes' walking distance of the centre and very near the river, yet very peaceful at night. The staff are friendly, charming and very helpful. A definite five stars.
Disliked: I liked everything! If you want a slick contemporary hotel, go elsewhere. If you want beautiful rooms, elegant furniture, a real taste of the past with all the conveniences of the present, stay here. One thing: the hotel has a grand central staircase but no lift, so there are stairs to climb to the upper floors.
