Where to stay in the Cerdanya

What the Cerdanya is like

The Cerdanya is a wide, sunny valley in the Pyrenees, shared between Girona, Lleida and France, about two hours from Barcelona. It has the La Molina and Masella ski resorts, golf courses and stone villages with lots of second homes.

Which village to choose

Puigcerdà is the capital, with shops, restaurants and its lake. La Molina is the option for ski-in, ski-out stays, and Prullans and the villages on the Lleida side are quieter and more rural.

When to go

From December to March for skiing, with weekends packed with people from Barcelona. Summer is cool and also in high demand, especially in August.

Getting around

The R3 Rodalies line reaches La Molina and Puigcerdà from Barcelona, and by car you go through the Cadí tunnel. A car is best for getting around the valley.
