Where to stay in La Molina: the best areas

La Molina and Supermolina

Sleeping at the foot of the slopes is La Molina’s big advantage: you set off with your boots on and come back at midday without the car. Together with Masella the resort forms the Alp 2500 area, skiable on a single pass. Accommodation is split between the resort centre and Supermolina, higher up. It also has its own station on the R3 Rodalies line from Barcelona, so you can arrive without a car. Outside the ski season the area is used for hiking and mountain biking, although many services close.

Masella

On the other side of the Tosa d'Alp, Masella has its own lifts and apartment areas among pines, very close to the slopes. It is popular with families spending the whole week here. There is little going on outside the snow season and few shops, so arrive with your shopping done. If you are looking for large apartments for groups or several families together, you will find more options here.

Alp

Alp is the valley village to which both resorts belong. It has supermarkets, restaurants and a mountain-village feel, and the slopes are a short drive up. It suits anyone who wants everyday convenience and doesn’t mind taking the car each morning. From Alp you also quickly reach Puigcerdà and the rest of the Cerdanya plain.

Puigcerdà

The capital of the Cerdanya offers small-town life: streets with shops, the bell tower of Santa Maria and the lake ringed by summer houses. It is on the French border and has a station on the same R3 line. It is the option for alternating skiing with walks and dinners, or for stays outside winter.

From here you are close to Llívia, the Catalan village surrounded by French territory, and the cycling routes of the Cerdanya plain.
