Disliked: Upon arrival, we discovered that the air conditioning in our room was not working. We immediately contacted the reception, and the receptionist was very polite and helpful. However, unfortunately, he was unable to resolve the issue. We were informed that there was no maintenance staff available at the time to fix the air conditioning. We also asked whether another room could be provided, but we were told that there were no other bedrooms available. As the room was not suitable for us without working air conditioning, as we do have a one year child and it was super hot in the bedroom, so we had no choice but to leave the hotel. At the time, we were given a full refund at the property, and we therefore left believing that the matter had been resolved. However, five days later, I was charged the full amount of the reservation through Booking.com, and the reservation has apparently been marked under a “no-show” policy. This is completely incorrect and unacceptable. We did not simply fail to arrive at the hotel or cancel without notice. We physically arrived, reported a serious issue with the room, attempted to have it resolved, and left only because the hotel was unable to provide a working room or an alternative room. I find it unacceptable that I am now being charged the full amount and that the situation has been recorded as a no-show, despite the circumstances and the fact that we were initially given a full refund. I request that you immediately reverse this charge and correct the reservation status, as this was clearly not a no-show. If necessary, please also contact Booking.com to confirm what happened and ensure that the incorrect charge is cancelled. I would appreciate a prompt resolution and written confirmation that the full amount will

Great location, lovely hospitality team dreadful cleaners very dirty rooms

Liked: Convenient location to a stunning beach.Everything is within walking distance. The room was okay but infested with insects and very dirty. The lazy cleaners did not clean which resulted being covered in insect bites. Despite speaking to the front of house clerk who was very apologetic and nothing changed. Was glad to leave on the fourth night. Such a shame as it was a lovely hotel and convenient for the beach. Would love to go back but it is very unhygienic.

Lot of expectations for a renovated hotel but dissapointing, hope they finish renovations soon

Liked: The hotel lobby and bar looked nice with a Moroccan-style decoration, the breakfast was good with enough options and the room was also beautifully decorated. Staff were very friendly and when we asked for a deeper clean of the room, they did, which was a nice gesture.

Disliked: The room could have been better cleaned. There were ants going around the bathroom so you could not leave anything there. There was a lack of place/furniture where to leave your stuff in the room and in the bathroon (although I would not leave anything in the bathroon due to the ant issue). The terrace was not really cleaned as well as the table and chairs. Curtains also needed a clean. The pool is too small (for 8 people) for a hotel with a capacity of nearly 80-100. The parking was insufficient, only 8 spots, that are taken first-come basis with no rotation leaving the unlucky guests to have to pay for the parking in the street which you need to renew every 4 hours, so really unconvenient and expensive. Renovations were still going on in some rooms so for a 20 June they seem to be a bit late. The hotel could be quite nice if they finish the renovations, clean it better and get ride of the issue with ants.

    Lovely to be back!

Liked: This was my third stay at the Casablanca Hotel, last visit was about ten years ago - too long! I can honestly say it was as great as ever! I remembered it as a small and friendly place and this hasn’t changed. We were greeted by Carina on arrival and she’s a lovely welcoming person. All the staff are very helpful. Although it’s not super fancy, our room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed - very glad of the fridge and air con! The buffet breakfast is very good, plenty of choice and regularly topped up. Although the pool area is small, we didn’t have issues getting a lounger. The pool was clean and maintained every day. There’s a snack bar available if you get peckish later! Monte Gordo isn’t a big resort, which is what we love about it. The beach is super and is just a few minutes’ walk away from the hotel. There’s an excellent selection of cafes and restaurants nearby too. If you have (or are with someone who has) limited mobility, Monte Gordo is ideal as it’s mostly flat (other resorts can be quite hilly) and shops, restaurants etc are close by. All in all we’re very sad to be leaving Unique Hotel Casablanca, Monte Gordo and hope to return very soon.
