Cat on Property Not Disclosed – Had to Leave Late at Night

Liked: The home owner was pleasant and showed flexibility when we found out that we made an error with booking dates and had to change them last minute.

Disliked: When we arrived at the property, we discovered that there was a cat freely roaming the premises. Unfortunately, my son is allergic to cats. As a result, at around 11:00 PM we were forced to leave and urgently find alternative accommodation in the area. Since the property is located in a rural area, this was extremely difficult and stressful, especially so late at night. We also had to pay for another place to stay. The property owner refused to refund our payment, claiming that since the accommodation is listed as “pet-friendly,” it is acceptable for a cat to be present and free to walk around the property. Had this been clearly stated in advance, we would never have booked this accommodation. My son simply cannot stay in a place where cats are present. We were very disappointed — both by the situation itself and by the property owner’s response. It is unfair and irresponsible not to clearly disclose that a cat lives on the property, and to warn that people with cat allergies should not book.
