  A Gem in The Square

  Liked: The staff Maria Jesus was super helpful. With the little Spanish I knew, she was very patient and helped with restaurants recommendation. The room was very clean and bed comfortable. Toilets and towels were in good condition..

  Disliked: The shower head needs a little upgrading i think. Just not enough pressure.

  A lovely, more personal stay – great location, great host and full of character

  Liked: We stayed here for one night as part of a longer motorcycle trip, and this was a really enjoyable, more local-feeling stop. The location is excellent, right in the main square within the old walled town. Ciudad Rodrigo itself has a great atmosphere, and staying right in the centre made it easy to explore and enjoy the surroundings. This is quite different from the larger hotels and Paradores we stayed in. It’s much smaller and more boutique in style, with a more personal feel. The host was lovely – very friendly, welcoming and easy to communicate with before arrival, making everything straightforward. Our room overlooked the square and matched the one shown in the photos with the distinctive glass-fronted balcony, which was a great feature and added to the overall experience. Cleanliness was excellent. The room was spotless, and while there was a scent of cleaning products (mentioned by other reviewers) on arrival, it was reassuring rather than off-putting and reflected the high standard of housekeeping. The décor is slightly traditional in style, but very well maintained and in keeping with the building. It felt cared for and appropriate to the setting rather than dated. Overall, this was a very comfortable and characterful stay in a fantastic location, with a genuine personal touch that we really appreciated.
