Exceptional
Great stay and friendly staff
Liked: Walking distance to town, supermarket and gas station near by. Room was comfortable and had free coffee and pastries for breakfast. Also Owner was such a nice person who was willing to help with anything.
Disliked: Hotel is a little dated, but they are working on renovations.
I slept well in a comfortable bed in a very clean room. I had a nice chat with Juan over the complementary breakfast
Liked: It is only a ten minute walk to the town. It is an old fashioned building that has a charm about it. Juan, the hotel manager is helpful and friendly.
Disliked: I visited in mid-week in mid-May, which is off season, so the there were very few visitors about. Therefore many restaurants were closed.
Most rewarding hotel experience
Liked: The attentive atmosphere of friendliness and welcoming! The owner, Juan, was the perfect host, always ready to offer help and ideas to make the stay so pleasant. There is everything a traveler needs there, including a very sweet dog, Bako, and friendly black and white cat, Don Gato. The hiking trails in the area provide beautiful vistas, as well as great exercise. Juan can recommend the trails just right for the hotel guests. There is also a wonderful library with books to read!
Disliked: There was absolutely nothing I didn't like!😃

Liked: The owner Juan was really nice and helpful. A good place for animal lovers! The owner’s dog is very big and greets the guests upon arrival.
Disliked: Being greeted by animals could be a bit freighting for some guests.
Enjoyable 3 night stay
Liked: Lying just outside Ezcaray opposite the fuel station. Welcomed on arrival by a (very) big friendly dog called Bacchus. Juan wasn't on reception but room keys for expected guests were left for you to collect. Speaking via google translate to the very welcoming owner Juan he explained the hotel was very much in the early days of building up. Breakfast is simply pastries, coffee and orange juice (he has no license at the moment to prepare food, if I understood things properly) but there is a fridge and microwaves available in a cafe-like area for guests to use. Supermarket (Lupa) is 50metres away and the municipal swimming pool is next door. The bustling town is a short walk away with plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants.
Disliked: Perhaps the bathroom deserved some attetion but then Rome wasn't built in a day
