  Special property

  Liked: This is a beautifully repurposed property in a quiet, small hilltop town in which which we overnighted, between Barcelona and Asturias. The views over the valley are stunning and the proximity of the Vivanco wine museum gave us a very nice little excursion before driving away to Haro. The quality of the dining is very high, and I would suggest making reservations ahead of time. Parking wasn't an issue, as there's free spaces along the perimeter of the town wall.

  Disliked: I wished that there was more shaded seating on the 2nd floor terrace. I didn't ask at the front desk, but I wonder if they're stocked with a few health essentials in the case that a guest requires aspirin, decongestant, etc. There's a little pharmacy in town, but you might need something outside of typical small town hours.

  Liked: Excellent boutique hotel in a jewel box village in the heart of Rioja

  Disliked: Overall great, but no à la carte food options or late night eats (only a prix fixe dinner, which is excellent)
