Good
Liked: A really cool and nice hostel-café-restaurant in a building which I understood used to be a train station cafeteria, next to old train tracks on a hill above the town. Beautiful place! The staff was fun, energetic and super helpful and the music in the restaurant was very good everything from Muddy Waters blues to Spanish flamenco. Can recommend if you're visiting in or passing through Hervás. Gracias Maria y Eva:)
Disliked: The check in was kinda confusing for me because there was nobody at the hostel when I arrived. But Eva was helpful through a phone call and I was able to get in.
Liked: It’s a great option also in a nice town with a very good price
Cannot get ANY REST in this hostel
Liked: Eva, the manager of a hostel was very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was typical: coffee, juice, bread, some jam.
Disliked: Well. The room has no windows you can open, for a start. No air conditioning, just a fan. In a room was well over 30°C. You cannot get ANY sleep in this temperature. But that is not all. The room is basically IN A CLUB. Behind the cardboard door there are people shouting, drinking and every 10 minutes, trying to come inside, as they think.it is a toilet. Music is so loud until middle of the night, you cannot call anyone, watch youtube or speak to anyone. You feel, like you lay down in a middle of the dance club. I would NOT RECOMMEND anyone looking for a nights rest. At 3 at night, when the music stopped, I went outside to catch a breatch and was thinking, that sleeping outside would get me much more comfort. Seriously. The bedsheets, in my opinion, were not changed, after previous client. Mosquitos in a room. Everything kind of old and messy. Terrible night. Would say, the worst on my first 500km of Via de la Plata.
Nice Via verde albergue
Liked: Very nice albergue. Just along the Via verde de la plata. Very handy location. I was the only sleeper in a 4 bed dormitory. In the room is a fan. Clean, ironed sheets are provided. Hervas is a nice little town with good facilities. It's also a great hiking center. In the morning there was a delicious breakfast prepared for me, coffee included.
Disliked: Nothing.
Great location, building, and people
Liked: A beautiful hostel coverted from a country train station, with great atmosphere - a downstairs cafe/bar with large outdoor seating area. Locals dropping in all the time to chat with the staff. Very kind and generous staff who went out of their way. Beautiful location right on the hiking trail, overlooking the town. Also great food at reasonable prices!
Superb
Liked: Lovely atmosphere and really nicely converted building. Great to have a cafe/bar on site although it wasn’t open in the evening (but maybe because it was Sunday)
Disliked: Bit odd that there were no staff in building in evening and a couple of people arrived and wanted to stay.
