  Liked: Very central location, close to transit, walking distance to lively bars and restaurants close by, grocery stores nearby. Access to kitchenette and laundry, which were extremely convenient. Host was respectful and accommodating.

  Disliked: It was unclear from the listing that these are accommodations shared with host, and not a single room in a hostel - I would not have booked if I had known. Check-in instructions were not provided prior to my arrival, possibly just an error in this one instance, but I was left wandering around in the street with luggage, late at night in winter and unable to get in.

  Highly recommend for comfort, location and value

  Liked: I loved staying in Daniel's apartment. The location is unbeatable in the heart of Madrid. Easy check-in and checkout. While the bedroom is not large, it has a ton of cupboard space, excellent lighting, a quiet fan over the bed which kept me cool even when the weather was 33 degrees outside. Daniel also lives in the apartment but he is completely unobtrusive, allowing you freedom to use the bathroom, kitchen and living areas as though you were actually living there on your own. That being said, he is always available for advice if you need it. I slept well, was able to save some money by preparing many meals myself and the shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. The bedroom and bathroom doors can be locked if you wish but there is really no need. I felt very safe during the 5 nights I stayed and was very sad when the time came to leave.

  Disliked: Nothing. It was a pleasure staying in Daniel's apartment and feeling like a Madrid 'local' for 5 nights.
