Great hotel in pleasant resort town near to Barcelona
Liked: The hotel is near the train station and town and in the port marina area. It is a lovely hotel with pool and pool bar and gardens. The rooms are big and beds comfortable. Didn’t use the restaurant in evening as there were lots of places to eat in marina area. Breakfast was very good. Most staff very helpful and welcoming. The train to Barcelona goes three times per hour so very convenient for sightseeing. Also lots of walks along coastal path.
Disliked: The rooms looking over the marina are quite noisy at times and soundproofing between floors and rooms but very good as you could hear footsteps all the time of neighbours in rooms above and beside us. Also basketball pitch below but outside hotel grounds attracted local youths who played to accompaniment of loud rap music at 8 am Monday morning - they were moved in by security but did return. None of this really detracted from our enjoyment of our stay though.

Best Hotel in Mataro - but needs to show more hospitality
Liked: Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. The hotel has a great location right by the marina, spacious and comfortable rooms, and a tasty breakfast buffet with plenty of choices. The facilities throughout the hotel were clean and well maintained, and what I appreciated most was the calm atmosphere. In fact, of my last five hotel stays, this was by far the quietest and most relaxing. I had a small issue during the stay, but the management dealt with it immediately and professionally, which I really appreciated. Thank you.
Disliked: The only real downside was the hospitality. In general, the staff came across as rather cold, reserved and unmotivated. As a regular traveller, I’m used to different cultures and different styles of hospitality — so perhaps I simply encountered the more Catalan version. Still, a friendly “Bon dia!”, a smile or even a little eye contact would have gone a long way. With a few exceptions there is definitely room for improvement when it comes to the basics of making guests feel genuinely welcome. The gym could also use some attention: the equipment is rather limited and feels more decorative than functional. And a small note for breakfast: On 6 subsequent mornings the hard-boiled eggs seemed to have reached a level of commitment where even the shells refuse to let go. Perhaps a new cooking approach could work some magic there:-)
