My most expensive stay on the Camino was very disappointing
Liked: Location was perfect - right in the center of O Cebreiro.
Disliked: They made us put our luggage into black plastic bags before going up to the room. Our room was so small that the staff suggested that we keep one of our bags out in the hallway. The power went out at 8 PM and did not come back on until 10 after seven in the morning. The staff said nothing and made no notifications or apologies and had no information about the Power Outage.

Disliked: DO NOT STAY HERE. I wish I had read the recent reviews. Our room was wrongfully advertised - with a private bathroom. Bathroom is not private, it's separate and in a communal area. Receptionist was fully aware and happily tells you it's wrongly advertised- once you've already checked-in. You are then told to put your luggage into plastic bags bin bags - you'll find out soon enough why. The place is riddled with BED BUGS. I woke up covered in bites and dead bugs on the mattress. We complained about the room - the accommodation then cancelled the room. But would not confirm a refund. The receptionist then went home - leaving us with no answer. We complained to booking.com - they chased the ultra defensive owner - he replied using his usual slander and empty threats. Refused to refund a room that he knowingly is advertising falsely. He cancels your reservation with no refund and leaves you with no alternative- other than to stay in the bed bug hell hole or lose your money. He knows there is little choice of accommodation in the town - so he knows your stuck between a rock and a hard place. Look at previous reviews and you will see what I mean about this man. He lies, makes up nonsense about how he's helping pilgrims on the Camino. Gets emotional about how much money he has invested- no one cares. Pretty decor mean nothing - if you can't tell the truth, own your failures and lie about what you're providing. Stop conning people with false advertisement and clean your hotel - it's that simple. I stayed in 29 other hotels/auberges/hostals on the Camino not one issue. All of them run by beautiful people, all clean and all adding to the Camino experience. This was the only exception- it was our worst stay on the whole Camino, it is a disgrace to the Camino and the owner is the biggest issue.

Liked: Cute room, very charming village. Quiet.
Disliked: It was very strange from arrival. Maybe it's a language issue but the receptionist was quite rude. My bag was delivered by a bag transfer service, sitting there nice and dry. Iwas, on the other hand, drenched wet, muddy and very tired after that climb up the mountain. The receptionist insisted that we put my dry bag in a garbage bag so it could go upstairs. Then, when we entered the room, he put my backpack in the garbage bag too... once he left, I took them out so I could access my stuff. It made no sense. Room was cute but very tiny. Almost no space to open your bag. Shower was clogged and water came out of the cabin. Shower head was loose and directed to the wall. Around the sink were cute decorative objects but no space to put your toothbrush, toothpaste etc. Mattress gave me a sore back. After many days of sleeping comfortably in less pricy hostels, this is really not good? Also, they insisted that my poles were left in the bucket by the door. Garbage bag wasn't an option for those I guess. My poles are very expensive and absolutely vital for my walking. I was quite nervous to leave them basically for whoever wished to upgrade. Luckily they were there in the morning but why risk a potentially nasty situation? I honestly wouldn't go back there
Liked: The owner and staff were very helpful. They even helped me with my big bag upstairs! Much thought and expense must have went into the decor.
Disliked: I wasn’t comfortable, the room was so small and it was very noisy outside. No ventilation. Couldn’t have the windows w open because of the noise. Mostly, the bedding. The pillows were so “pilly”, even the pillowcase couldn’t smooth out. The cover blanket was pilly, and the bedspread stained. If you’re going to put that kind of effort into the decor, the linens and bedding should match. I wanted to like it so much, but I couldn’t stay again.
Liked: Beautiful room well appointed and really comfortable. Great location.
