  Disappointing

  Liked: Disappointing Stay – Certainly Not a 4-Star Hotel Having stayed in several Meliá hotels previously, I can confidently say that Sol Barbados is by far the most disappointing I have experienced. The hotel itself is extremely dated and in desperate need of significant refurbishment. There were some particularly concerning issues with our room, including a smoke alarm hanging out of the ceiling and bathroom ceiling tiles that actually lifted every time the door was opened or closed. While the hotel was generally clean enough, the overall condition and standard of accommodation fell well below expectations. On a positive note, the hotel is in a good location and the swimming pools are perfectly adequate. Unfortunately, these are about the only real positives. We stayed on a half-board basis. Breakfast was acceptable but certainly not what I would expect from a hotel advertised as four-star. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant on our first evening, but the food was lukewarm and disappointing. As a result, we chose to eat out every evening for the remainder of our stay, despite having already paid for half board. Although we weren’t all-inclusive, the food and drinks options available to all-inclusive guests also appeared very limited and of a poor standard, particularly the selection of spirits. In my opinion, this hotel is nowhere near a four-star standard. At best, I would consider it a three-star hotel, and even that is generous. What makes this particularly disappointing is that I have stayed in numerous Meliá properties and have generally had positive experiences. Unfortunately, Sol Barbados is easily the worst of them, and the experience has genuinely made me reconsider booking with the Meliá chain again. Overall, a very disappointing stay. The location is good, but the hotel is tired, the food is underwhelming, and it simply does not deliver the standard you would expect from a four-star property.

  Liked: Location, facilities, front desk staff was helpful and friendly.

  Disliked: The food was not really good, especially most vegetable dishes were overcooked. The restaurant and bar staff did not give the impression they wanted to work there. Beds were hard, the couch not nice for the kids.

  Okay but i wouldn’t stay again

  Liked: The rooms and pool was nice

  Disliked: The food and rudeness of the male employees at the reception desk. The food was bland and cold. It just wasn’t good. Definitely could’ve saved my money and not done the all inclusive. As for the male employees at the reception desk. They were rude, always cutting you off, not welcoming, if asked a simple question made it as if you were bothering them, and lastly they didn’t look presentable majority of the time. As if they rolled out of bed and put the same uniform they had been wearing the last 3 days. No ironing no care to grooming hair. Very slouchy and unkept
