    A Dissapointing Family Paradise

Liked: The rooms were comfortable and met our expectations, and the cleaning service was good throughout our stay. We particularly appreciated the wristbands that doubled as room keys, which were incredibly convenient when travelling with a young child. The hotel is also within walking distance of a lovely beach, which was a huge plus. The buffet offered a wide variety of dishes with different daily themes, and breakfast was particularly enjoyable, especially the churros! The snack bar was perfectly fine for a quick bite, and the staff were generally pleasant. The location is definitely one of the hotel's strongest points.

Disliked: Unfortunately, the hotel's main selling points were also our biggest disappointments. We specifically chose Sol Katmandu Park & Resort because of its family-friendly facilities, expecting our 3.5-year-old daughter to enjoy hours of swimming and playing. However, the children's pool was absolutely freezing, despite the sea being pleasantly warm. The splash area was surprisingly small compared to the promotional pictures, and the water was equally freezing. The indoor Soft Play area was another major disappointment. Children aged 0–3 are restricted to a tiny two-level playground, while children aged 4+ can access the much larger five-storey structure. I understand the safety considerations, but the facilities for younger children are extremely limited. Our daughter was bored after approximately seven minutes. The restaurant felt more like a crowded office cafeteria than a four-star hotel restaurant. Some dishes were already cold when we arrived for dinner at 6:30 PM, and the atmosphere was often chaotic, with guests cutting queues and reaching over small children at the ice cream station. The cocktails were also disappointing. Their daiquiri, for example, was simply premade mix topped up with Sprite. We also had an odd experience at reception when we asked why the vending machines were switched off. The receptionist seemed completely uninterested in helping or even checking the machines. Another strange choice was scheduling the children's disco at 8:30 PM, which seems rather late for a resort primarily aimed at families with young children. Ultimately, our biggest disappointment was the value for money. We paid a premium for a four-star family resort, primarily because of its attractions and children's facilities. Unfortunately, many of these were either unsuitable for our daughter's age or simply didn't live up to expectations.

Disliked: We arrived at the hotel as scheduled, having informed the hotel in advance that there would be three of us: two adults and one child. We paid an additional €180 for the extra adult and another €20 for a “better room.” In the end, we were given a room with only one bed and no extra bed, so all three of us had to squeeze into the same bed. During our five-day stay, the room was cleaned only once, and we were not even provided with fresh towels, so we had to buy our own. The hotel employs many foreign workers, apparently from Africa. Unfortunately, the overall standard of service is very low. The food was repetitive throughout the stay and was completely bland and tasteless. You are also not provided with all the important information clearly in writing. Instead, you either have to remember everything explained by a receptionist whose English was not very good, or simply figure things out by trial and error. All activities for children are conducted in Spanish and feel completely disconnected from the needs of international guests. There are hidden extra charges everywhere — for games, arcade machines, and even billiards. Although jumping into the pool from the sides is prohibited and there are three lifeguards supervising the area, none of them seem to enforce the rule, creating an unnecessary risk of injury. Similarly, guests are supposedly not allowed to reserve sunbeds with towels before the pool opens, yet in reality almost all of them are already reserved by 8 a.m. We would never stay at this hotel again. Considering the price, we genuinely cannot find any significant positives to mention.
