Very good
Bathroom needs decorating and repair but location superb
Liked: Location and decor in bedroom
Disliked: Bathroom was very tired and shower and basin leaked water onto floor
Great shame and such a waste of a really lovely spot
Liked: The location is amazing
Disliked: Well first I should say that it wasn’t made clear this is basically an Airbnb type arrangement and that it’s a digital entry system. I don’t mind that in principle if I’ve reserved and bought the room on that basis but it’s always an unwelcome discovery when you start getting MILE LONG whatsapps with large amounts of information about how to get in the day before. I guess that they’d rather not spend the money on having a human available to greet you, hand you a key, and answer any questions you might have about your visit. It automatically renders the relationship into a sort of consumer = nuisance dynamic although to be fair the faceless person with whom I communicated on WhatsApp was very helpful and perfectly friendly. They have a really beautiful old building in a peerless location but the renovations include vinyl flooring and awful neon lighting. The shower turned the bathroom into a wet room and the basin was a tiny round thing with no edges to rest anything on with a ridiculously tall tap so you AND the bathroom got a bounce-back bonus shower anytime you washed your hands. The coup de grace was being informed that breakfast was available at their restaurant on the other side of the peninsula but when we got there - despite the fact that it was practically empty - we were told that we should have booked in advance. I have to say that in that moment I probably wasn’t my best self. The whole thing felt very penny-pinching and the experience spoiled the trip to Peñiscola for us and somehow so needlessly..
Liked: I really liked the location and the style of the hotel. The bed was very comfortable. The housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful.
Disliked: When we took a shower, the water splashed directly onto the floor in front of the bed and even onto the bed itself. If the shower is located in the bedroom, it really should have a proper glass door. We were locked out shortly after midnight because we didn't have a key to the main entrance. The information provided was not clear enough, as all four couples in our group failed to understand what we needed to do to get back into the building. Fortunately, a resident who was inside let us in. It should be made much clearer during the booking process that the breakfast location is about a five-minute walk from the hotel. The breakfast itself was very basic, and had we known both the distance and the limited selection, we would probably have chosen to eat somewhere closer.
Beautiful place to stay
Lovely view a little noisy with windows open but good air conditioning
Liked: Sea view, light airy decor.
Disliked: Shower gushed all over the floor
the bad welcome killed it
Liked: "Junior suite" (room #5). Great open-ocean views, nice terrace on the other side of the room facing the town side.
Disliked: This is not a hotel, it is more Airbnb style (no front desk staff etc, check yourself in with key lockbox codes). They never told us to contact them before arriving, we arrived, nobody was there to check us in, luckily a housekeeper passed her mobile phone to the manager who complained that we hadn't contacted them that we arrived (we were never told to do so) but then made a terrible faux-pas of saying "in the first place, check-in is at 3pm"... and it was 2:48pm! That is not how the hospitality works. We eventually got the key lockbox code after waiting in the hallway. Missing lightbulbs in room, TV unable to connect to WiFi nor wired data connection, shower flooded all over bathroom and into bedroom during a simple shower.
