  Pleasant stay, but poor communication during a fire alarm

  Liked: I stayed for two nights at Hotel Indigo Antwerp – City Centre last weekend. The welcome was friendly, the breakfast was good, and the location is excellent.

  Disliked: The rooms could be better soundproofed: I could hear noise from neighbouring rooms, as well as police sirens outside, despite staying on the seventh floor. Unfortunately, a fire alarm went off at 6:00 am on Sunday morning. Everyone had to evacuate using the stairs, and all guests gathered in the lobby. Naturally, a fire alarm must be taken seriously, but there was no communication from the hotel staff. We had to find out for ourselves that it was a false alarm caused by burnt bacon in the kitchen. No explanation was provided while we waited, and nobody told us when we could return to our rooms. After approximately fifteen minutes in the lobby, we had to walk back upstairs because the lifts were still out of service. Getting back to the seventh floor was quite a climb. There is a lot to like about this hotel, but during an incident like this, clear information and guidance from staff are essential. Unfortunately, both were missing, which put a damper on an otherwise pleasant stay.

  Liked: Hot showers, modern hotel, friendly staff. Helped us get a safe parking space for our motorcycles in a nearby garage. (Book in advance!)
