  An Absolutely Exhausting and Disappointing Experience - A Terrible Start to Our Life in Belgium

  Disliked: My wife and I booked this hotel for four nights while we were settling into Belgium. Unfortunately, what should have been a chance to rest after a long and exhausting journey turned into one of the most stressful and upsetting hotel experiences we have ever had. We arrived in the morning, completely exhausted, but were not given a room until 1:30 PM, despite there appearing to be plenty of vacant rooms. My wife spent hours sitting in the lobby, struggling with severe fatigue, a headache, and an overwhelming need to rest. When we were finally given a room, we discovered a locked connecting door leading to the room next door. When I asked the front desk about it, they simply explained that it was locked. This feature had not been mentioned anywhere in the listing or shown in the photos. We requested another room, only to be moved into one with such a strong sewage smell that we could barely step inside. We returned to the front desk yet again and were assigned a third room. This one had a broken trash bin and a bathroom sink that filled up after washing our hands just once, with water draining extremely slowly. Three rooms, three different problems, and not a single room that met even the most basic expectations. After an exhausting journey, all we wanted was a clean, functional room where we could finally rest. Instead, we spent practically the entire day moving from one unacceptable room to another, repeatedly returning to reception, and trying to resolve problems that should never have existed in the first place. The experience became so overwhelming that my wife eventually broke down and cried for nearly an hour from sheer stress and exhaustion. That is not something I ever imagined witnessing because of a hotel stay. To make matters worse, we had specifically paid extra for a room option advertised as including late check-in and high-speed internet. However, the Wi-Fi was extremely slow, and we could not identify any separate high-speed connection.

  Functional hotel with helpful friendly staff that is very convenient for sightseeing

  Liked: The hotel is within easy walking distance of a direct tram that takes you to the historic centre and the hotel not only gives you free parking on-site but also let's you leave the car there after checking out. We stayed one night in which we arrived in the early evening but did a tour of the old town after check out in the morning but left our packed car at the hotel. The room was large and clean enough and the breakfast was a typically good continental style.

  Disliked: There didn't seem to be any air-con but that didn't bother us in October. The stair well seemed to have water ingress and was a bit smelly but there was a lift that most people seemed to use.
