Perfect location from which to explore Mechelen’s key sites

Liked: Excellent location, walking distance from the historic centre yet quiet and peaceful surroundings. Friendly and attentive staff and an excellent breakfast selection.

Disliked: The soundproofing is not great between the first and second floor - I could hear the guests above me when they were walking around in the room or moving things.

Liked: Great location in the middle of the center, very friendly staff which is a +. The pool is also nice.

Disliked: Cleanliness could be better. In general interior is pretty dark; not very cosy. Building should be renovated inside, it has potential.

Helpful hotel - comfortable stay and good location

Liked: The hotel was conveniently located to where I needed to be on the north side of Mechelen, a bus dropped off just outside the door from the train station. The room was clean and comfortable. The design was sparse, but I was really looking for somewhere to stay the evening. The bed was comfortable and the curtains made the room go nice and dark. In the morning, staff helped me print something before I left the hotel which was really helpful.

Disliked: The walls were quite thin and I could hear other doors slamming shut.

    Hidden extra costs

Liked: Great location. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.

Disliked: Having booked the 2 bed Suite for 2 Adults I was appalled and frankly disgusted that the Hotel wanted to charge 43€ to prepare the second bed. Nowhere throughout the booking process did it state that to use the second bed for the second adult there would be an additional charge. If I booked a room with two twin beds and we were 2 adults would we be charged extra to make the second bed? I have never seen this before and am frankly disappointed that the hotel nor Booking.Com state this UPFRONT. For this reason I would never recommend this hotel and makes me hesitant to continue to use booking.com.

Poor breakfast, mosquitos-filled and noisy room

Disliked: Breakfast was average at best, most of the food was cold and kinda stale even if it was the very beginning of the breakfast time. The room was very noisy, I could literally hear everything everyone was doing in neighboring rooms. Also the room had a window that could not be closed, so at night it was a feast for mosquitos and I basically could not sleep. I asked multiple times to have it closed, but they never did.
