Great hotel, good value for money great location yet away from pilgrims tours
Liked: The owner is very friendly and accommodating. I had to work mornings and she gave me a quiet spot undisturbed. Internet is good with secure network. I also forgot to book breakfast and she accommodated last minute request. Breakfast is sinple continental: bread, pastries, butter, jam/honey, yogurts, ham and cheese, cornflakes and milk, warm drinks, orange juice for 8 eur. Late night check-in was easy. Room and property is very clean. There is a fridge, microwave and kettle available till 9pm.so you can make yourself a warm drink or warm up a meal. There is no restaurant at the hotel unlike what the listing says. Location is absolutely great. 10 min to the front gate and another 10 min. walk to the grotto, basilicas, and piscines but far enough from the horde of pilgrims tours which stay the other side of the river. There is less stores than around the side gate (basilica side), the upside being that it is much more tranquil. There is a mini market nearby. Train station is a bit of a walk uphill on the way back. Lourdes is hilly and check opening hours of shops. In typical French fashion some open mornings only, some random days. Les halles for example close at 1pm. Google map can send you the long way, look closely at he map: there are shortcuts and couple of lifts in alleyways to take you up hills. The castle is worth the visit. Absolutely stunning. Other landmarks can be totally overtaken by groups and you have no chance to get in.
Disliked: I am a big person, so foam mattresses are just to soft and not good for my back. I was impressed about how clean the place is, considering the age of the building. Howerver, the smell of bleach was uncomfortable at times as I make respiratory reaction to VOCs. Boiled eggs would be a great addition to the breakfast

Liked: I was very pleased with the location of the hotel. It is exactly in the middle between the Lourdes sanctuary and the railway station. And very close to Lourdes fortress. Very pleasant staff. Breakfast was also good.
