By the sanctuary
The streets running down to the sanctuary have most of the town’s hotels, many designed for pilgrim groups. The grotto, the basilicas and the procession esplanade are a few minutes’ walk away, among souvenir shops.
Centre and castle
The town centre, around the covered market and below the fortified castle, has simple hotels and apartments with more local life. The railway station is nearby and the sanctuary a downhill walk away.
The lake and outskirts
Around Lake Lourdes and on the roads out of town there are campsites, guesthouses and hotels with parking. They are quiet and practical if you travel by car.
Argelès-Gazost and the valleys
To the south, Argelès-Gazost and the valley villages have rural houses, mountain hotels and a spa. They are a quarter of an hour away by car, on the way to Cauterets, the Pont d’Espagne and Gavarnie.
