It pays to have low expectations

Liked: It's handy for la défense. I can't argue with that.

Disliked: It's shabby, it smells bad, the plumbing needs attention, and the electrics need URGENT attention. I woke up covered in bites, though that might be because I had to sleep with the window open to let out the worst of the smell. I wouldn't say what remained could, in good conscience, be called the *best* of the smell, but what can you do? My colleague was also in the hotel and reported very similar issues, although I don't think his toilet slopped and sloshed all night like mine did. There is no air conditioning, the pool is closed for good, the breakfast is served in a room far too small to accommodate it, the mattresses are very thin, and the hotel is sufficiently broken that some rooms are let out as a separate entity through AirBnB. This hotel is in a bad way, and I'm sure you could get more for your €230 a couple of stops away on the train.
