Okay hotel, unhelpful staff and poor customer service

Liked: Location was good for walking to restaurants and shops, and the river

Disliked: Front desk staff was very unhelpful and rude. When I arrived It was discovered that i had accidentallly made my reservation for a year in advance. Luckily they had 1 room still available for the date of my arrival, however instead of just letting me book the room right there with them at the front dest, they made me log into Booking.com and reserve that room on booking.com - which made no sense to me since i was standing right in front of them at the front desk. In addition, they were completely unwilling, after multiple requests onsite, and follow up emails after departure - to cancel the 2027 room without the full price penalty. Even though they have a full year to rebook those dates, and I did stay at their hotel for two nights (paying even more than my 2027 booking).... they are absolutely unwilling to allow me to cancel without the full cost of the booking. Booking.com had waived the cancellation fee, but the Hotel will not agree to the waiver... so I am left to pay for both 2026 booking and 2027 booking. Terrible customer service and very rude. In retrospect I wish I had walked out and stayed somewhere else. Still confused on why they wouldnt just book me a room on site.
