  A pleasant surprise in terms of comfort, but overpriced for what it offers

  Liked: A pleasant surprise – small but clean, comfortable and cosy! At first, I was a little surprised when I entered the hotel. It is quite small and narrow, and my first impression was that it didn't really feel like a typical hotel. However, my opinion quickly changed, and I ended up really enjoying my stay! One of the first things I appreciated was the neutral smell throughout the hotel – there was absolutely no unpleasant odour of an old building. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The bed was large and spacious, with a really comfortable duvet and two different types of pillows – one large and firm, and another smaller and soft. I absolutely loved this combination! The bathroom had lovely NUXE toiletries, and the towels were fresh, clean and pleasantly scented. Breakfast was modest in variety but very classic and perfectly adequate. All the usual breakfast essentials were available, including a warm omelette and bacon, which was a nice touch.

  Disliked: Although the location is very convenient for public transport, I didn't feel particularly comfortable in the surrounding neighbourhood. Walking back to the hotel after dark made me feel uneasy, and I personally didn't feel safe in the area. Another major downside was the price. I booked through Booking.com approximately six months in advance and paid almost €300 per night. However, just one week before my stay, the same hotel was available for around €100 per night. That is an enormous difference, and I honestly feel that €300 per night is far too expensive for a hotel of this category. The breakfast area is also extremely small, with only a few tables. If they are all occupied, you may find yourself with nowhere to sit and enjoy your breakfast.

  The perfect gem

  Liked: We loved the bed, it was spacious and comfortable. It was the perfect location for a long day of travel and late night arrival, as the location was perfect. They went above and beyond and left us chocolate marshmallows in the room which was a wonderful surprise and very much appreciated as it was my birthday the next day, so a real treat!

  Disliked: The stairs were steep and narrow, but most steps in Paris are, so just proceeded with caution.

  Will definitely stay again

  Liked: The location was brilliant, other reviews have criticised the area but I am a single woman travelling alone and felt totally safe and loved the area, lovely bistros and everything you needed right on the doorstep. The staff were so welcoming and helpful.

  Disliked: The lift was tiny so if you had a lot of luggage would struggle - but at least it has one and I was fine
