Exceptional
Excellent stay in the heart of Augsburg for a family of 4
Liked: It was close to the Fuggerei, which we wanted to visit. It was well laid out and had plenty of room for a family of 4. The area was quiet and the hosts had provided fans for the hot weather. On site free parking was a bonus.
Disliked: There were some minor maintenance issues.
Liked: Friendly owner who answered quickly to all questions, excellent location near Augsburg centrum, apartment is at silent area so it was possible to sleep with windows open and enjoy morning coffee in the silent balcony towards courtyard, good value for money. This apartment is ideal for family travellers who visit Augsburg by car and want e.g. to make day trip from Augsburg to nearby Legoland.
Disliked: Only minus goes for WiFi connection that was often breaking.
Convenient for city centre
Liked: - in quiet area but very close to town centre - good to have a fan for hot weather and could open windows on both sides of apartment to create a breeze
Disliked: - booked this apartment because 1.covered parking space for motorbike 2.washing machine 3.close to town centre. Disappointed that parking area was not secure ie no external gate and there is a communal washing machine and dryer but no instructions on how to locate it – you need door entry code for house 2 but then I couldn't get washing machine to work! - no lift so be aware that some apartments are on 3rd floor
Smaller than expected
Liked: Apartment was very clean. Seemed well equipped. Beds comfortable. Fans available to keep spaces a little cooler during warm, humid weather. Bus & tram stop nearby. Augsburg is a beautiful city, & very convenient to Munich & Salzburg.
Disliked: Responses to questions were slow & felt perfunctory. We arrived on a religious holiday. All shops & many eating places were closed. It would have been helpful to know this as we were unable to get basic items like bread & milk for breakfast. Check in was 4pm, check out 10am, 6 hours to clean a relatively small space seems excessive especially when guests are asked to empty all bins before checkout otherwise an extra charge is applied. The cleaner also arrived early as we were still preparing to depart. We were made aware by way of the apartment webpage that the building is old, but the plumbing work is very noisy, & the shower did not drain well. We had to keep turning off the water during a shower to avoid water spilling over the shower tray onto the bathroom floor. Other guests were noisy coming & going late at night. We didn't use the terrace as it faces other unattractive residential buildings, is over the carport & attracted a lot of insects in the evening. For the same reason, we couldn't open the terrace doors to cool the apartment, so had to use the fans to try keeping the space cool during a spell of humid weather. Both bedrooms are street facing & could be a bit noisy at night. Living/kitchenette space combined a little cramped. No washing machine as advertised on the listing. Details of a laundry service for an extra charge instead was left for guests to read in the apartment information booklet.
