Guest reviews
Very good
Nothing exceptional
Liked: Breakfast, price, Cleanliness and the people
Disliked: 1. Accommodation without signing up for their membership which costs 7 euros/ year. 2. Internet connection 2. No charging points near the bed. Only 3 charging points for the berths of 8 people. 3. Towel like a handkerchief 4. Buses aren’t regularly available for the stop near the hostel. Else get ready to climb a steep section without the light for 650 metres. 5. Small cupboards to store the bags which needs 2 euros coin to lock.
Clean hostel and you get what you pay for
Liked: Easy to get to by car and a lot to do in the area so very central. Very safe atmosphere inside. Beds and room are clean and comfortable. Staff are accommodating and kind. You’re paying for a hostel and it is a hostel. You can check in out of hours but you do have to inform the staff beforehand but it was very easy to get through to reception on the phone. Breakfast was excellent and definitely above and beyond what you’d expect from the price you’re paying. You have to make and strip the beds which I believe is usual for hostels in Germany so isn’t a negative but I don’t think it’s advertised.
Disliked: The method of checking in out of hours is that the staff leave the key on the table of your unlocked room. Although I appreciate the accommodation of being able to check in late, i feel maybe a lock box with a code would be a lot safer as with the current method anyone can walk from the street to the unlocked bedroom without a key. Appreciate that worked well for us but it’s just a suggestion to improve safety as we did have to check the room before sleeping because anyone could have gone in. A few other reviews mention the city tax and the hostel membership which you do have to pay on top of your reservation. Again I’m not sure if this is normal in Germany but sure it probably is. This is per person and for two people for one night we paid €13 altogether. It’s not really the hostels fault but I don’t think you’re told about it you receive a message after you book. Although it’s quite cheap it does mean for a longer stay this really builds up and potentially it becomes the same price as a hotel in the area. We had an issue with the toilet in our room backflowing from other toilets in the property, potentially because it’s such a large property. To give credit to the staff we could only inform them in the morning and they were incredibly apologetic but it does show it’s an old building and there’s things breaking. All this being said for one night in the area it was the cheapest option and it is advertised as a hostel - just things to be aware of.
Liked: All
Disliked: Nothing
Wouldnt recommend for backpackers- seemed nice for families but super odd for solo travellers
Amazing stay, beautiful landscape
Liked: Staffs are very professional and friendly, incredible views from the window, also the breakfast is amazing.
Disliked: The room is short on power outlets.
Liked: Good breakfast, though it was paid for in the price. No keys necessary. Practical.
Disliked: To pay touristtax ( on booking.com) + membership ( no mention on booking.com) YH, together €7 more each night, tot. €44!
