    A real pocket of excellence!

Liked: I chose the hotel fairly randomly for its proximity to the station and the Buchmesse, and chanced on a gem, a real pocket of excellence! Of course, hotel grading guarantees the level of facilities, but REAL excellence is often in the small things, the personal friendly service from literally all members of staff, from reception to the ladies at breakfast. The best breakfast I've had in a long time: top quality tea leaves in a caddy, not the hot water + tea bag that is so common, great variety in the buffet - from cheese and cold meat selection to smoked salmon with horseradish, and fresh veggies (even a slice of Mooli radish) and a friendly invitation to make a to-go sandwich, with paper & plastic bag at the ready. Even mini salt and pepper mills on the tables - no need to find someone to provide a mill for freshly ground pepper. My favourite: proper fresh Bircher müsli. Fruit salad with 100% fresh fruit, and everything stocked up during the course of the breakfast by the attentive staff. Copies of the daily newspaper. The breakfast room, which is partly a tasteful conservatory extension is bright and inviting. In a way it felt like an intimate version of one of the grand hotels of old, with a warm, understated interior. The hot water in the shower was almost instantaneous, the wifi in the bedroom was excellent, two things that in other similarly starred hotels are not always what one expects. It is well-situated, with buses, trams, restaurants all within walking distance, and the reception staff were helpful and knowledgeable.

Disliked: Honestly, there is nothing that I can think of.

Elegant venue in the heart of the city, outstanding service

Liked: The location was ideal for my business meeting, to which I was able to walk in 5 minutes. The lady who checked me in was gracious and helpful. The overall experience was pleasant.
