  Staff lovely..rescued me...but will never return

  Liked: The staff...professional and attentive..reacted to my complaints and provided alternative accommodation in an non judgemental way. The bed in the room i ended up in was very comfortable..the highlight was leaving.....never too return....

  Disliked: On arrival i realized what a mistake i had made booking this dump...glass doors were heavily contaminated, there was a discarded pair of pants at entrance (i should of photographed..but past experience with booking.com and unacceptable accomodation resulted in nothing )...room was disgusting, derma on every surface, debris under bed, foul smell emanating from bathroom which featured rusting finishes and lots of filler,...dodgy staining on walls,phone just revolting....2 doors into one room....avoid it like the plague

  Best in the area!

  Liked: After staying at another hotel in the area, that was more expensive but the bed was smaller and the shower was tiny, this was a real gem, I will stay there again. A warm welcome, a large room and bed, a bath... excellent location as well for the station.

  Genteel grandeur of yes the year with the updates expected now

  Liked: The location was what you would expect around a major transport hub. It would be naive to not expect the homelessness drug use etc because it is the same everywhere. However the convenience more than makes up for that. The hotel would have been built close to the time of the station and was probably a very upmarket affair. It shows the gentile grandeur of that time and I enjoyed it very much. Only a small thing but I need to mention.... The breakfast was served at tables dressed with beautiful white tablecloths. That is a refinement you don't see very often now. Breakfast was very nice and plenty of selection. Liked having a kettle in my room and a small refrigerator. I would happily stay at monopol again.
