  In reality a guest house not a hotel - not recommended at the prices charged

  Liked: There was a good selection at breakfast. The receptionist responded courteously and positively to requests that were in reality gently phrased complaints.

  Disliked: The self-styled boutique hotel is more like an old-style family guest house and has ideas (and prices) far above its station. Our double room was on the small side- only one bedside table and one chair. Old fashioned reading lamps were positioned so it was impossible to lean back against the headboard. On our first night the rhythm of music from the bar could be clearly heard and persisted all night. Soundproofing generally was poor, with inadequate floor coverings and no door closer on a heavily used door. There were no staff on reception between 11 and 3, nor after 9pm. The Wi-Fi was unreliable, frequently dropping. Decoration was tired in places. There was not enough room in the breakfast room for all the guests. I had to ask specially for enough light to be left on to read by in the communal area in the evening.
