Sewer stench, missing jewellery, dirt and noises - We strongly suggest staying away
Liked: The view from the villa was nice
Disliked: Staying at Folegandros Villas has been one of our absolute worst holiday experiences! Sewer stench – There was a nauseating and intense odor of sewage that made it impossible to use one of the two bathrooms. This issue persisted throughout our stay, and we were told that nothing could be done about it. (Later, in response to Booking.com’s enquiry following our formal complaint, the manager of Folegandros Villas denied that there was any sewer smell) Wi-Fi – The Wi-Fi did not work. When we raised this issue, we were told that it could not be fixed. Missing jewellery – After the cleaning service visited, we noticed that two silver rings were missing and that several jewellery items had been moved from their boxes and left mixed together, suggesting they had been handled. We immediately informed the management, who said they would ask the cleaning staff. We were thereafter told that the cleaner denied taking anything. (In a later response to Booking.com, the manager stated that we had “lost our rings.”) Terrible cleaning service – The cleaning was highly unsatisfactory. The breakfast tables were not cleaned, the bathroom floor was dirty, and we even found clothes belonging to previous guests under one of the beds, indicating that the floor had not been properly vacuumed for a long time. When we complained to management, we were told that “our cleaning lady is perfect.” Fridge issues – The fridge beeped loudly every hour or so during the night, and we had to get out of bed to turn off the alarm. When we informed management, we were told that “the fridge works perfectly.” Missing facilities Bidet – The villa was listed as having a bidet, but it was not present. Barbecue – The villa was advertised as having a barbecue, but this facility was also missing. In sum, we paid an extremely high amount of money to stay at a property surrounded by dirt, night noises, and the constant stench of sewage. We strongly suggest staying away from Folegandros Villas.
Quaint cottage with amazing view
Liked: Location was amazing. Staff was friendly and helpful. Cottage is unique.
Disliked: The steps to the loft are not for children or elderly. Slippery and no handrail. The TV did not work in either cabin.
