Lovely private home with lush garden within walk of beach
Liked: Really great private house with 2 rooms (door closes between the bedroom and the living area where the sofa bed is)! Beautiful private garden. Access to a washing machine (and drying rack on the patio). The location is excellent. Parking is always available on the street immediately in front of the house. A/C worked great. Good water pressure. Good mattresses/sheets/pillows. It's an easy 3-block walk to a lovely beach (that is not very crowded). Fantastic mountain views. It's a 5-min drive to shops and about 7-min drive to the busier part of town or the Kalamata Paralia (seafront/beach). The host was very helpful. His family lives behind the property, so when we needed sheets, his very helpful mom popped over with newly ironed sheets.
Disliked: Host does not communicate particularly well in English. Google translate helped. Also, no trash pick-up during the stay. Our small garbage cans were overflowing by the time we left (Day 5).
Liked: The welcome was wonderful. The host had thoughtfully prepared some snacks and fresh fruit for the guests. My family and I truly felt the warmth and comfort of being at home. The veranda and garden were incredibly peaceful and relaxing. We were so pleased with our stay that if I ever visit Kalamata again, I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.
