    Not a 5 star hotel

Liked: We had a swim up garden view room overlooking the restaurant. We would get the sun here from early morning until 2pm, which was about the only thing we enjoyed about this hotel. The Lobby area is also quite nice and gives the impression on arrival this could be a nice hotel.

Disliked: The room was very dated and in need of some fresh paint. After our first shower, we had a water leak all over the bathroom floor and out into the hall and living area. After 2 visits from a plumber with some sealant, it was better, but the cleaner put a bath towel along the bath for the rest of our stay. The patio area where we had 2 large sun cushions on the floor for sunbathing was very dirty and clearly needed some paint and a power washer. It clearly had not been washed for a very long time. The room didn't have any tea or coffee making facilities. A kettle and 2 cups could have made life so much easier. Instead, one of us had to walk all the way to the pool bar to carry back paper cups of hot tea to our room. The all-inclusive buffet breakfast and dinner had plenty of choice, but unfortunately, everything was always lukewarm or cold. The lunch buffet was generally what was left over from dinner the previous night. This hotel is definitely not a 5 star. I have stayed in nicer 3 star hotels. My only conclusion is that it is advertised as 5 star so as they can charge €15 per room tourist tax, which I believe is the maximum charge for a 5 star.

Disappointing experience. Beautiful location, but far from the 5 star standard expected

Disliked: Disappointing experience. Beautiful location, but far from the 5 star standard expected! I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately, our experience at Lindos Royal Resort was disappointing enough that I feel it is worth sharing. Upon arrival, our shower flooded almost into the bedroom. Although maintenance responded quickly, the process of cleaning the drains was unpleasant and left a terrible smell in the room. The following day, housekeeping cleaned our floors using visibly dirty, almost black water, leaving an even worse smell. We had to leave the doors open to air out the room. Overall, cleanliness and hygiene were well below expectations. The food was another major disappointment. The quality was extremely poor, and most of the buffet food was already cold when we went to serve ourselves. We also had an issue with privacy. Despite activating the “Do Not Disturb” sign, someone entered our room to leave a letter on the bed. This was concerning, particularly as we had personal belongings and valuables inside. During the storms, several areas of the hotel experienced water leaks, with rain coming through the ceilings, raising further concerns about the property’s maintenance. Finally, the hotel beach was particularly unpleasant. We noticed a pipe discharging a yellowish substance directly into the sea. We could not identify what it was, but the sight was concerning enough that we decided not to swim or spend time there. The only real positives were the beautiful views and the location. Unfortunately, these were not enough to compensate for the poor hygiene, food quality, maintenance issues and lack of respect for guest privacy. Overall, a very disappointing stay and certainly not the standard we expected from a 5 star resort.

    5-Star rating is very surprising!

Liked: Wide variety of food available in the main restaurant, so as a vegan I could always find something to eat, and the à la carte restaurants were even more accommodating. However, the complete lack of plant-based milk was surprising and disappointing. In the end, I had to buy my own from a local shop. Housekeeping and restaurant staff were very nice and friendly

Disliked: I made the bookings for my parents, my brother, and myself, and we booked more than a year in advance. For my parents, who are elderly and unsteady on their feet, I specifically requested an accessible ground-floor room. For my brother and I, who were sharing, I requested a room with two single beds. I followed up on these requests directly with the hotel one month before our stay. Disappointingly, when we arrived, we found that my parents had been assigned a room on the third floor, and the room itself had two steps leading from the bathroom area to the sleeping area. With marble tiles and no handrail, my mother, unsurprisingly, had a fall, which we later reported to the travel company. My room also did not have two single beds as requested; we had to separate the double bed ourselves, which required a fair bit of effort. The fridge in the room was not working when we arrived. It was reported and fixed the following day, but then the lights stopped working. Those were also repaired, but together with the broken balcony door handle, damaged toilet roll holder, inconsistent A/C and generally dated décor, it felt like a losing battle. A few other points are worth mentioning. Pool towels required a €10 deposit, which I found very strange in a 5-star resort. The Calypso Bar consistently smelled of sewage, to the point that our group referred to it as "the smelly bar." Drinks at most bars were served in plastic or paper cups, which made the overall experience feel rather cheap. The lobby bar was not included in the all-inclusive package, but at least drinks were served in proper glasses. Although I once waited 20 minutes to be served despite there being two staff members on duty. Bar staff in general were not friendly or patient
