  Great location and nice rooms

  Liked: Lovely big room, lovely location and beach. The staff were delightful. Breakfast was a great selection, with an omelette station. Shout out to the Maître D’ who talked me through what was safe for my LO with a nut allergy to eat every night and to room service who tried their very best to make our bed softer.

  Disliked: The double bed was very hard and the pillows were very flat, with only a single pillow each. A topper to soften the mattress and some pillows with some variation would have been appreciated. Dinner was a bit average and not very inspiring.

  Would not recommend no

  Liked: Great location, good beach with plenty of beds and shade. Lovely pool area.

  Disliked: Food was very poor, every item on the buffet was cold, the heaters were either switched off or ineffective, the food itselfwasbland and repetitive, prettymuchthesameevery night. It is a shame, becausewith very little effort, it could be great, but they just don'tseem to care. When we complainedthatbreakfast was cold, they bought out fresh trays, but these were equally cold, obviouslyleft on the side in the kitchen. The giv away was, no one needed a cloth all dishes were carriedwith bare hands!. The hotel has no natural gathering space, normally during bad weather guests would gather at the bar or hotel reception area to play board games, read or just people watch. But at Kernos there was nowhere, the bar is off to the side of the property, just a rectangular shaped room, with a few tables and chairs, no atmosphere. We never saw more than 6 or 7 people in there, even when there was what the hotel called "entertainment". One night we went to watch a saxophonist, honestly was so disappointing, a man turned up set up a lap top and a stand, and started to play along to tracks, there was no introduction, I thought he was warming up, but after 30 minutes I guessed he had started the show. He never once acknowledged the onlookers or spoke to the audience. He literally selected a song then intermittently played along. Again with a bit of effort it could be so much better, for example turning off the TV beside him and formally introducing the act.

  Disliked: Not worthy of 4 stars. Very inconsistent service. Bare minimal toiletries and they don’t replenish you have to ask and l was told it’s only on arrival then you have to buy. My daughter’s room was refilled. No coffee tea facility in the room no iron. For a 4 star rating you would think it was part of the stay. Towels didn’t smell to good either. Buffett breakfast was a let down as well. Nothing was labelled and very few choices in general. WiFi is very poor. It’s a shame such a beautiful location and resort to be not well managed. My grandson wet the bed and we were told we had to wait to the next day to get the sheets changed house keeping finished at 2pm. My daughter asked for fresh sheets and they were brought up in our absence and dumped on the bed. Well overpriced for what you get.

  Superb

  Liked: We had a wonderful stay at this hotel in July. The staff were incredibly friendly and supportive throughout our visit. Whenever we had questions, they were always there to help. When we arrived, our room had two single beds instead of a king-size bed. We requested a room change the next morning, and the staff quickly arranged a different room for us—with an amazing sea view. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of options at both breakfast and dinner, so everyone could easily find something to their liking. On the whole, we were very satisfied with our choice. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a stay in Malia, Crete!

  Liked: Perfect location, beautiful pool, great beach, problems resolved quickly.

  Disliked: Poor internet signal in room, too many people for the restaurant to cater for, not enough staff to serve coffee, clear plates or sign for drinks. Lottery whether there was a free table. Swimming pool was full of people who like nothing better than to throw a ball at each other with no regard for other guests. A sign saying no ball games will resolve this, no lifeguard to control the pool area. Not enough sun loungers for everyone on the beach or around the pool.
