What to see in Dublin
Must-sees
Dublin is explored on foot on both sides of the River Liffey. At Trinity College you can see the Book of Kells and the Long Room, a 65-metre wooden library. Nearby are Dublin Castle, St Patrick’s Cathedral and Christ Church, and the Georgian parks of St Stephen’s Green and Merrion Square.
The Guinness Storehouse, in the old brewery, ends in a bar with views over the city, and the Jameson distillery tells the story of Irish whiskey. Temple Bar is the pub district, and half an hour away by train are seaside villages such as Howth.
Free tours and guided visits
Dublin has free walking tours of the centre and guided visits to Trinity College and the castle. It is also the base for day trips to the Cliffs of Moher, Glendalough, Belfast and the Giant’s Causeway.
