“Private apartment” was not our experience

Liked: There were cookies and a little pastry provided along with coffee and a French press. It was well decorated, the bed was comfortable and the house was cute.

Disliked: The space was cold when we arrived. No heat was turned on. The host wanted to meet us so even though we were tired, cold and wet, we waited 20 minutes to meet her. She visited a while and showed us her photography. The next day we went to lunch and shopping and were gone for four hours. While we were gone, the host came into our rental area and turned off the heaters. Her explanation was that she thought we were having problems with them. We felt that her entering the space in our absence was not acceptable.

Small cottage in a quiet rural setting

Liked: The property is well maintained with good parking facilities. The bed was comfortable and the shower although weak was very acceptable. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. A small fridge is available which is big enough to hold a small amount of items. It takes about 5 minutes to drive to Doolin where there is a good selection of bars and restaurants.

Disliked: Nothing in particular. Please note however that the cottage does not have a kitchen. However it does have a Kettle with tea and coffee supplied which was a nice touch. Be careful driving out from the carpark as there is a bush which creates a blind spot.

Liked: The Old Cottage was a highlight of our stay in Ireland. As we traveled around the country we stayed in some wonderful B&B's, cabins, guest houses, and even a castle. All of them were wonderful and we've written some glowing reviews. However, nothing compared to the authenticity and charm of this Cottage. It gave us the feeling of staying in the Ireland of our imaginations. The Cottage was old and quaint, exactly as one would expect an old Irish cottage to be, but our room was attractive and clean with a comfortable bed and pleasant little sitting room. Our hostess, Elaine could not have been more pleasant and helpful. She's also a remarkably talented photographer. The Cottage was walking distance to town, if you are not afraid to take a 3 km hike,. We also found it easy and affordable to call a local cab. We would recommend The Old Cottage to anyone wishing to experience the charm of Ireland.

    Very cosy stay in Doolin

Liked: The breakfast and the location were very good. There was a fridge with milk, bananas, and chocolate in it. The host had a coffee machine and a kettle that we could use, and provided tea bags and coffee pods.

Disliked: There could have been a tap (that wasn't the bathroom tap) to drink from, and to fill up the water on the coffee machine.
