  Incredible hosts and location!

  Liked: I can’t say enough about our wonderful stay. Tea and her husband met us at the parking lot and saved us a spot and drove our luggage and most of us to the apartment. They were wonderful hosts and gave us lots of tips for visiting Matera. The fridge had lots of great snacks and the apartment was comfortable and immaculate. It was our favorite stay of the trip. We were in the perfect location to walk to everything in minutes. Loved it all!

  Wonderful hosts and real home from home accommodation

  Liked: Tea and Martino were wonderful hosts. Tea had communicated clearly and gave us helpful advice on parking. Martino was there to meet us and drove us to the accommodation as it was in the historic centre where we could not drive. As hosts, they could not have been any more welcoming. Sassi di Tiopista is a generously proportioned house in a quiet location, but still right in the middle of the historic centre. The location is fantastic - step out and walk immediately around the ancient streets. The house is beautifully kept and was spotless. It was the most comfortable place we stayed during our tour of Southern Italy. It really was a home from home with a comfortable living area, well equipped kitchen and two lovely bedrooms. Tea and Martino had put in a generous amount of provisions for our breakfast - bread, butter, jam, yoghurt, milk, juice, water, etc. and there was a good supply of teas, coffee. Martino took time to give us information on Matera and some guide books, plus restaurant recommendations. Overall it was a brilliant couple of days and we really wished we were staying for longer.

  Liked: We spent two absolutely fantastic days and we could not have wished for a better place to stay in Matera. The house is truly in the heart of the Sassi, which allowed us to experience the authentic atmosphere and magic of this incredible, thousand-year-old city. The house itself is beautiful and full of character, and our children were absolutely fascinated by both the house and Matera. The hosts were incredibly warm, welcoming and attentive. Thank you so much for all the care and thoughtfulness you showed us — it made our stay even more special. We leave with beautiful memories and a very full heart. ❤️❤️❤️ If you are looking for an authentic experience right in the heart of the Sassi, this is definitely the place to stay.

  Perfect for a family of four (two teens), large, spacious and perfect location

  Liked: We loved the location right in the heart of the Sassi but quiet, the incredibly helpful owners and the large size of the apartment. The kitchen was also well equipped. All the restaurants, bars and activities recommended by Tea and Martino were excellent. We really appreciated the assistance with parking and transfers to the apartment

  Unforgettable stay and amazing hospitality

  Liked: An incredible two-day stay in Matera! From the very moment the hosts, Tea and Martino, picked us up from the car park outside of town, they made us feel incredibly welcome in their beautiful family home. Their local recommendations were absolutely excellent. It was also a wonderful bonus to see the beautiful street lights turned on and ready ahead of the Festa della Bruna festival on the 2nd of July! The kitchen was stocked with a fantastic spread of breakfast snacks which was a lovely touch. Matera is a beautiful town, and the wonderful hospitality here made our trip completely unforgettable.

  Disliked: Absolutely nothing. everything was perfect!

  Very helpful and friendly hosts & a beautiful clean charming house. A short walk to all the sights, shops & rest

  Liked: Very lovely, clean & charming house and beautifully furnished. Hosts Tea & Martino were very friendly & helpful. Picked me up at the Matera bus station then dropped me at Matera train station when I left. Also had lots of advice for sightseeing and dining. Their house was a short walking distance to everything.
