  Liked: The cave setting and the locastion of this place are amazing. The wifi worked great, and the room felt clean and comfortable. For someone older tho, it would be somewaht uncomfortable to get in the shower though.

  Disliked: The breakfast is good but instead of so many cakes, it could use some more variety of healthier options like scrambled eggs, other types of cold cuts, etc.

  Liked: Great location right within the Sassi area! Friendly staff and great breakfast.

  Disliked: It was very clean, however due to being in a cave, it was found to feel damp at times and a little musty smelling. All part of the experience!

  This is a great family owned and operated hotel. Fredrico was a great host and we will be back

  Liked: The room was as described online but the views were even better, The patio out front was perfect for a bottle of wine while looking at the view. The breakfast was plentiful and many choices.

  We enjoyed our stay in Matera. The location was perfect and had a lovely breakfast. No shortage of good restaurants

  Liked: It was nice to be situated amongst the caves.

  Disliked: We found it hard to find the location. Could use more signage and better instructions from the property. Eg, look for the 3 flags and the white gate at the entrance.

  Liked: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A truly unique Matera experience We had a wonderful two-night stay at Residence San Pietro Barisano during our visit to Matera. Staying right in the heart of the historic Sassi made the experience even more special. The room was beautiful, comfortable and full of character, with the incredible stone and cave-style architecture that makes Matera so unique. Walking outside and immediately finding ourselves surrounded by the ancient streets, stone houses and breathtaking views of the Sassi was something we will never forget. The location was perfect for exploring Matera on foot, and after a full day of walking those hills and steps, it was wonderful to return to such a peaceful and atmospheric place. Our only regret is that two nights went by much too quickly! Matera was one of the highlights of our trip through southern Italy, and staying at San Pietro Barisano made it even more memorable.

  Disliked: There were some little bugs that bothered me a little.

  It was ok, not work the hype or the money spent on it, I would pass on something like this next time

  Liked: Breakfast was good, owner was nice.

  Disliked: Bed mattress needed to be updated and pillows sucked it was if you did not even have a pillow. Air condition was really noisy, very bard to sleep. Issue was when ever you left the room you had to pull out the card out all the power would shut off and the room would become really hot, I understand the power to save electricity but keep the air conditioning running at all time.
