  Superb all round

  Liked: For us in the 30+ degree heat and having a car, Borgo Villa Risi was the perfect stay in Sienna - no parking problems in the big driveway - mornings spent in town or driving around wine country - then back for a cooling dip in the pool for a few hours before going out again in the evening. You can walk into town in 20 mins or it's less than 10 mins to drive or taxi. John, the host, could not have been more helpful and was always on hand via whatsapp (on the rare occasions he wasn't on- site) to answer any questions. Next time we're in Sienna, we will definitely stay here again

  Liked: nice location, 20 mins walk to the centre of Siena. fruit and veg van at the end of the road selling fresh produce in the morning. nice pool area and studio was a good size.

  Disliked: being able to hear the people in the studio above us taking a leak!!!

  Beautiful pool and gardens

  Liked: The pool was just beautiful during the hot days. Plenty of sun loungers and outdoor sofa under a large gazebo. Our 2 bed cottage was very pretty with an undercover terrace overlooking a well maintained garden. There were comfortable outdoor chairs to sit and read when a storm came through. Aircon in living and bedrooms. John and his family were lovely, spoke excellent English and helped us by allowing an early check in and booking a return taxi to the train station. We stocked up on all our food and drinks at the large supermarket near the train station before arriving as we didn't have a car. We had already seen Siena/Tuscany by car, so just wanted to sit by the pool as it was 34°, for a couple of days reading & relaxing, and it was just perfect. There is plenty of secure, free, outside parking in the property of you have a car.

  Disliked: Very small detail... the bathroom window/door could benefit from a privacy shutter as it opens onto the courtyard of one of the other apartments on the property. (Just a note to add - Ideally you need a car, it's a very long walk to anything, although I understand there is a local bus)

  Great property

  Liked: Beautiful facility, very comfortable and cozy. We didn't get a chance to use the pool because it was a bit too cool but the grounds were lovely. Local bus was convenient for getting into town.

  Disliked: There were 4 friendly dogs that were kept in a kennel by the front gate day and night the majority of our stay and we found this very distressing. After we voiced our concerns a few times the dogs disappeared from the kennel, hopefully up to the main house to run, play and spend time with the host family inside. There also wasn't anything in walking distance (at least for us) for food or drink but it was easy to get into the city centre by bus or taxi so that wasn't a problem.
