  Good location, but the room and services needed work

  Liked: The guesthouse is in an old building with high ceilings, close to the very centre of Trapani, on a quiet street with no traffic noise. The owner contacted us on WhatsApp right after booking, which we appreciated.

  Disliked: The room itself was disappointing. It smelled damp, especially the bathroom, and the shower was quite mouldy in the corners. The window opened onto the stairwell or a shaft that mostly smelled of cigarettes. There was nowhere to dry wet beach towels or clothes, so we hung them on door handles. The walls were thin: we could hear the neighbouring guests as if they were in our room. Breakfast was basic but had some choice. One morning it was moved to the owner’s restaurant, about 15 minutes’ walk away, because the coffee machine was broken (judging by other reviews, not for the first time). We were offered a lift there only at a set time, squeezed into a car with other guests, and no ride back.

  A lovely old property full of character, perfect location and superb breakfast

  Liked: The location was perfect, right in the centre of the old quarter and close to the port. The property was full of character and tastefully decorated with antique effects. We loved the breakfast which was sourced with food from local producers.

  Liked: Small family owned property. The host were lovely. Breakfast was excellent. Good location.

  Disliked: Bedroom was on the third floor and there is no lift.
