  A perfect location in Funchal with a lovely harbour view

  Liked: We had an excellent stay at Solar do Ribeiro! The location is ideal — just a 15-minute walk from Funchal’s harbour and the busy tourist areas, yet far enough away to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Despite being away from the crowds, we had a beautiful view of the harbour from our balcony and could even watch the cruise ships docked there. Having a private parking space was a huge advantage in Funchal, where finding parking can be challenging. Guests also have access to a shared rooftop terrace, although we never felt the need to use it, as our own balcony was very comfortable, with chairs and a table — perfect for enjoying the view. The apartment was spacious enough for two people, with plenty of room for our belongings and a generously sized bathroom. It was very well equipped with everything we needed, including kitchen utensils and appliances, so we were able to prepare our own dinner one evening. We particularly appreciated the coffee machine with filters provided — all we needed to buy was some coffee. There was also a full-sized dishwasher, a washing machine, and a clothes dryer, which came in very handy after spending time at the beach. The ceiling fans were especially useful during the warm nights, keeping the apartment comfortable. The self-check-in process was also very straightforward, thanks to the clear and detailed instructions provided by the hosts. Overall, Solar do Ribeiro was a fantastic base for exploring Funchal and the rest of Madeira. It offered an excellent combination of location, comfort, practical amenities, and a lovely sea view. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it!

  We had a great stay!

  Liked: Apartament was very clean and located close to the city centre. It had a beautiful view from the balcony. Parking place is a big asset as there is no place to park outside. Easy check in and check out.

  Disliked: A wardrobe in living room would be useful. Sometimes AC would be beneficial however pans ware available.

  Excellent stay!

  Liked: Nice apartment with good sea views, an excellent bathroom and comfortable bed. The kitchen was well-equipped. The ceiling fans were very effective at keeping the appartment cool.

  Liked: Overall the place was great. Clean, comfortable and near some good restaurants in Funchal.

  Disliked: Communication with the lady managing the place was a bit iffy. I asked some questions about the parking place. They told us to park underground which we did, but the garage was pretty narrow and one time we arrived and there were already 3 cars in the garage. The bulding has plenty of other parking spaces with more more space, but our remote only opened the underground one

  Amazing but parking is not great

  Liked: Absolutely amazing place. Close to the center and super comfortable. Enjoyed everything about the accomodation part

  Disliked: The parking is an absolute nightmare. There is an underground ish parking that’s just in a corner so it’s a pain to go in and out. Also the angle is crazy I would not go there with a small low down car. We had a Nissan Juke and it was fine but took ages to park and get out of there, with the wheels skidding all the time when we left.
