Very good
Terrible
Liked: Nothing they double booked me the night of the marathon in Porto and only told me after I’d flown out and arrived! Thankfully they let me cancel but am still waiting for my refund to be processed.
Very good value for money
Liked: Clean and comfortable
Very comfortable
Liked: Beautiful house, with a beautiful room, spacious outside spaces and very close to Parque da Cidade, where we had our event
Disliked: The bathroom was next to the room but outside. One of the staff entered our room before check-out, at about 9AM, which was quite scary
A modest room with comfortable bed, the location was perfect for me
Liked: Accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable. Public transport was nearby and great, so it was easy to get around Porto.
Disliked: The staff knew and agreed that I would be arriving late (c10pm). When I arrived the house was in darkness, locked, and empty. There were key lock boxes, which I didn't have a code for. Luckily I had taken a taxi due to the time. The kind taxi driver phoned the owner, got the code and got my two keys. No instructions for use of any communal equipment. Two days after I arrived a French couple arrived, who also didn't have lock box code. I let them in the front door but obviously they couldn't access their room and got no answer when phoning owner: I think they left? The lack of info was the main problem. No-one said we needed to be on WhatsApp! After a bad start I had a good stay
We felt good there
Liked: The location is fine, although not close to the coast. Walking down there is a bit of challenge because of the hilly landscape. 35' by bus to the city center is considered reasonable. Uber works fine and is relatively cheap, we used it pretty often Can surely recommend the local restaurant Eldorado 50m down the street: fresh fish and good steak plus house wine, typical Portuguese family dining and English speaking staff. But take a note all locals like to go there too, so booking a table could be wise idea. Next to the restaurant is the tobacco shop where you can buy and replenish your travel card and next next is the cafe we had our breakfast (sandwich and coffee and fresh orange juice are less than 10 euro in total, Brazilian coffee is just excellent and relatively cheap)
Disliked: The apartment is situated in the business area, so not a wide choice of cafe, canteens and restaurants, most are closed on Sundays, most start working from 9am which is way too late for breakfast. I hardly found one local food shop with basic variety of fruits, vegetables, wine and grocery. The property looks fine except for one family room which in my eyes should NOT be offered at all: it is in the basement, without a window hence no daylight and the toilet is next door down the corridor, though private, not shared. But can you imagine you have to go out of the room just to get shower? We were given that family room first and after we complained it was kindly replaced with the nice room in the upper floor (many thank to the kind host - she was doing her utmost to sort this out immediately). That new room was also clean and comfortable, just one point has to be mentioned: there are very small shelves near the bed - could have been larger.
