  Liked: Very friendly and nice staff and owner, very clean and very big room. An absolutely charmng winery stay. Owner is also a winemaker and his house tawny was very delicious as were the other wines I tried.

  Disliked: No minifridge in the room. With the price they are asking, would be good to have a place for water bottles etc. Breakfast was good but nothing special. Again with the pricetag I expected a warm breakfast. I did get the fried eggs when I asked.

  Loved the Douro Valley and Cas dos Varais

  Liked: I have never stayed anyplace in my 71 years where I felt more welcomed and genuinely appreciated. Joao and Ni are the best hosts you can ever hope for.

  Disliked: The people and the beautiful grounds. Gorgeous gardens and landscaping. If you need modern amenities this may not be for you but if you’re looking to connect with good people don’t pass this by.

  Charming house, lovely location, wonderful owners

  Liked: Location is great, quiet in with an old charming house. The fresh breakfast was continental buffet style. Generous size bedroom and comfortable beds. Easy parking. Lovely gardens and fruit trees. Owners were lovely, very friendly people, couldn’t have been more attentive.

  Disliked: My husband is tall and broad, he found the shower cubicle in our room too small, kept knocking his elbows on the walls. 🤷🏻‍♀️

  A majestic stay in the heart of the Douro - we will be back!

  Liked: We had a wonderful stay at Quinta Dos Varais. The property and surrounding gardens are peaceful and lovely, the staff and owners were very friendly and the house itself is magical to stay in. I couldn’t recommend staying here more if you are in the area! We didn’t eat dinner here but the breakfast was delicious and fresh.

  Disliked: There was nothing to not like!
