  Fantastic stay

  Liked: Great location, lovely hosts, very big house. Nice swimming pool. Vineyard to stroll through. We visited with a family of five it was fantastic. Everybody had a place to relax, from the porch to the swimming pool, living room or the balcony ( with a great view over the Douro valley). When we visit Portugal again we will surely book this place again.

  Disliked: It rained..... But there was more than enough room inside to relax:)

  La Cigarrita is one of those places you tell your friends about and it is highly recommended

  Liked: If you are visiting the Douro valley and looking for a genuinely warm and hospitable welcome, then this is the place for you. Set in peaceful countryside, surrounded by vineyards complete with black pigs, chickens and a friendly rabbit, La Cigarrita is a well equipped and comfortable home. We only stayed for one night but wish we'd had longer to take full advantage of the pool and outdoor seating areas. Everything was excellent, bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, bathrooms clean and modern. However, it was the friendly warmth of our hosts that really made our visit so memorable. Fortunately, we had booked the three course meal for our stay, and it was akin to visiting friends for dinner. The food was cooked on the spot and delicious- the best meal of our holiday; the accompanying wines equally excellent. Whilst preparing dinner, Telmo and Marisa talked about their family, their business and vineyard and provided tips about what to do in the area. After dinner we invited them to join us over their home made port and we really enjoyed their company. It was a lovely evening. Before leaving we had a nice breakfast and Marisa even washed the dust off our hire car. Nothing was too much trouble. La Cigarrita is one of those places you tell your friends about and it is highly recommended.

  Wonderful!

  Liked: This house is so special and was just a perfect retreat for our stay in the Duoro. My girls loved the animals and we had so much space for them to play. The hosts were some of the nicest people we’ve met and definitely the best hosts I’ve ever encountered! The hospitality and kindness they showed us was incredible and we’ll never forget our experience there. And what great cooks they are! We never went hungry and the food was amazing. We were sad to leave.

  Lovely home in the hills of Douro valley

  Liked: Very spacious and well appointed home with fantastic views in a gorgeous location. The hosts were very friendly and the included breakfast was substantial and of good quality.

  Disliked: Soap/shampoo in the bathrooms needed to be refilled; oven mitts couldn't be found; and some bare essential supplies like olive oil, pepper, extra pods of coffee and tea would have been nice.
