  We had a fabulous 3-night stay - loved the historic Quinta with stunning vistas over the river. The staff were incredibl

  Liked: The setting is spectacular with stunning vistas over the Douro River. The Quinta has been beautifully restored and the guest rooms have a river view. The heated infinity pool (in October) was a treat. The staff were so helpful and friendly (Francisco x 2). Breakfast in the dining room was delicious. Wine tasting (old vines) and snacks on the terrace was very special.

  Disliked: The bed small for 2 (a double size, not a Queen or King).

  Disliked: Beds are very uncomfortable, kept awake all night by a crying dog tied up next to the house, and a very noisy air-conditioner.

  Disliked: Roads to get there was tight and I am glad no one was coming from the opposite direction.

  Quinta Dona Matilde is a uniquely beautiful property. The pool was fabulous after a day exploring nearby vineyards. Fr

  Liked: Francisco, staff and the gorgeous dog gave us the warmest of welcomes to this sensational spot above the Duoro. We immediately felt at home.

  Really pleasant, authentic Quinta experience within beautiful surroundings. Lovely pool and gardens, and super friendly

  Liked: Beautiful location with views across the river, lovely room, friendly staff

  Disliked: A lack of amenities in the rooms, they don’t have fridges, or tea/coffee making facilities, cutlery/glasses, but neither do they offer dinner, there is a light snack menu available until 7pm. The Quinta is also a 20 minute drive to the nearest shops/restaurants, so some amenities in the rooms would be useful.
