Private with pretty views of the Douro valley

Liked: Beautiful views and a nice pool. We enjoyed watching the boats and train pass by. The kitchen is well equipped. The house is spacious and private. The decorations made the place feel cozy, the house feels like a home. Easy check in and out. We contacted the host when we could not find the barbecue and she organized to bring a new barbecue for us.

Disliked: The shower head in the on suite bathroom is not attached to the wall so we couldn’t use it to shower. The kettle spills a lot of boiling water when pouring.

    Brilliant otherwise

    Liked: Everything

Disliked: Unfortunately the bed linens and towels come stinking of chemical “ perfume” presumably from washing powder. If that’s not your scene you won’t be happy ( we managed to air them next day) and like us won’t sleep for the overwhelming smell.

Disliked: The road to get to the place is a bit tricky, just take your time.

    Spacious accommodation with stunning views

Liked: The accommodation has a luxurious feel. It is extremely well equipped and the first place we have ever stayed where they have over 100 drinking glasses! All the rooms are large and the kitchen has everything you could want. The front and bedroom balcony provide incredible views of the river. There is a small plunge pool which was very clean and inviting. The famous Douro line railway runs through the village and is a great and inexpensive ways of getting around. There is a very nice traditional bar/cafe in the village which has a big terrace with great views.

Disliked: The only minor negative is that the roads around the property are very narrow, but the train is a fantastic substitute.

This place is a Douro fairy tale!

Liked: It was a wonderful spacious place to explore the Douro valley from. Although the pool was closed for winter it looked like a great place to stay in the summer. The views are great and it's just a really nice place to decompress. It had a good size kitchen with all the utensils and equipment that you would need for a comfortable stay. The heaters worked well to keep us toasty. The views from the windows, balcony and porch were stellar and made for some really good photos. Boasting a nice blend of modern convenience and old world charm, it's a quintessential Portuguese house.
