How to choose an accessible hotel

What counts as accessible

An accessible hotel has a step-free or ramped entrance, a lift and at least some adapted rooms, with wide doors and a bathroom with a level-access shower and grab bars. Shared areas, such as the restaurant or the pool, are not always adapted.

What to check before booking

Book the adapted room specifically, as there are usually only a few, and confirm with the hotel the measurements you need. Look at the surrounding streets too: in old towns with hills or cobbles, an accessible hotel can be cut off from everything else.
